My student is not as motivated as he once was. Can you please suggest ideas on how to get him back on track?
ReplyDeleteHi Irene,
DeleteIt sounds like it might be time to have a talk to him about what his reading goals are. Does he have a list of his goals? If so, I would have him choose one and then break it down into small pieces, and start with one that is short and easy to accomplish.

Does anyone have ideas on how to teach double vowels? I know the rule about "when 2 vowels do the walking, the first one does the talking". But, how do I teach what the second vowel is?
ReplyDeleteSally has good advice.
Deletesorry, don't have any suggestions.
DeleteI think Fry's is a good idea.
DeleteSorry, Lynn. I don't know but I'll look around a little.
DeleteHave you looked in Fry's book called the Teacher's Book of Lists? It has everything.
ReplyDeleteDo you find that goal setting is an important step for adult learners?
ReplyDeletecan someone recommend a good book for a non-reader
ReplyDeleteWe have some books that are mostly picture books for adults with short phrases on each page.
DeleteOne of today's topic at the roundtable meeting is how to teach spelling to students who have memory problems. Any ideas?
